This case study documents the evolution of Recloaking Papatūānuku and the Think Like A Forest campaign as a single, evolving programme. It traces the initiative from its scientific and strategic foundations through to the development of an implementation framework, exploring how narrative, policy, science and investment can work together to enable landscape-scale restoration across Aotearoa New Zealand.
Drawing on the perspectives of Pure Advantage Executive Director Simon Millar and Emeritus Professor David Norton, who have provided continuity across the programme since its inception, the case study reflects the contributions of a wide network of trustees, iwi and Māori leaders, scientists, policymakers, businesses and community practitioners. It serves as both a record of the initiative’s development and a framework for the next phase of implementation.
