Rob McGowan

Rob McGowan was previously Continuing Education Officer at Waikato University and chairman of the Bay of Plenty Conservation Board and now works for Nga Whenua Rahui. Rob has been involved in teaching and researching traditional uses of NZ native plants, particularly for medicine (rongoa Māori); and IP issues relating to Wai 262.

We need to care for Papatūānuku, the earth mother, if she is to care for us. The Māori concept of mauri, which encompasses the web of interconnections which go to making the whenua healthy, can guide us when we are planting new forests.
