Patrick McVeigh is Practice Lead, People and Places with the independent consultancy MartinJenkins. Patrick has extensive experience in economic development and urban planning and brings strategic thinking and practical advice to help local and regional economies achieve inclusive growth. Patrick has more than 25 years’ experience working across the public and private sectors in strategy development, policy formulation, research and evaluation, scenario planning and visioning. Before joining MartinJenkins, Patrick spent five years as a General Manager at ATEED (Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development), where he led the organisation’s business, innovation and skills activities as well as the wider economic insight and analysis programme. Prior to moving to New Zealand in 2013, Patrick was Managing Director of a London based management consultancy specialising in economic development, evaluation and public policy research. He was also previously Director of Strategy for the London Development Agency. Patrick has a BSc in Town Planning Studies, a Post Graduate Diploma in City and Regional Planning (Distinction), and a Post Graduate Diploma in Social Science Research Methods – all from Cardiff University. He is a chartered town planner, a member of the IEDC’s International Advisory Board and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
